Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology today has brought great changes. Besides the many benefits obtained, technological developments also require us to be more vigilant and careful in using them because the higher the risks that will be faced, one of which is cybercrime. Big data analysis plays an important role in improving cybersecurity. With its ability to process large amounts of data, identify patterns, and predict threats, big data analytics helps cybersecurity teams detect and respond to attacks more quickly and effectively. Therefore, this paper will discuss the impact of big data analysis on intelligence gathering and decision-making in defence. This study uses descriptive research methods and SWOT methods. The results of the study show that the system thinking model of the impact of big data analysis in the defence sector on intelligence information collection and decision-making in the defence sector can be seen in Figure 1, which consists of loops A and B. The results of the SWOT analysis show that the impact of big data analysis on intelligence information collection and decision-making in the defence sector is divided into some aspects, which are strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. In terms of strengths, it is increased efficiency and effectiveness, increased situational awareness, and better decision-making. The weaknesses are related to data security, privacy and ethics, and dependence on technology. The opportunities aspect is the potential collaboration between institutions, increasing public awareness, and predictive analysis.
