Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Open-Ended Learning model assisted by the GeoGebra application on student’s understanding of mathematical concepts regarding arithmetis sequences and series in 10th grade at SIMPANG EMPAT State High School 1. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The research design employed is a pretest-posttest control group design. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The research design employed is a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population consisted of all 10th-grade students at SIMPANG EMPAT State High School 1, while the sample comprised two classes selected using purposive sampling. an experimental class and a control class. The research instrument was a test of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. Data analysis techniques included normality test, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results of the study indicate that the GeoGebra-assisted open learning model has a significant effect on students’ mathematical concept understanding. This is demonstrated by the hypothesis test results, which show that tcalculated > ttable at a 5% significance level. Thus, the GeoGebra assisted open learning model can improve students’ mathematical concept understanding of arithmetic sequences and seriesl 10th-grade students at SIMPANG EMPAT State High School 1, while the sample comprised two classes selected using purposive sampling. an experimental class and a control class.
